Ana Silvia, a 2005 fellow, is a Summit Scholarship recipient who is working on her Master’s Degree in Childhood and Adolescent Development at the Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala. She works as a food security facilitator with a community group for mother of children un 3 years old. She works on SRH issue with a SIAS on family planning. As a graduate of the GOJoven program’s Training of Trainers Process, Ana Sylvia has become increasingly comfortable in her role as an advocate and educator in her Maya Kakchiquel community, where SRH topics are often considered taboo and difficult to discuss. She is hoping that her MA will help her to acquire new tools and innovative methodologies to reach Guatemala’s most vulnerable indigenous populations. Ana Sylvia received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2010.
