In April 2010 GOJoven and the Center for Digital Storytelling’s - Silence Speaks Program coordinated a 4-day digital storytelling workshop with nine Alumni Fellows from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize. Workshop participants shared stories of what led them to the field of adolescent sexual and reproductive health, recorded first-person voiceover narration, collected images and video clips with which to illustrate their stories, and learned how to edit these materials into short videos. Following the workshop, participants assisted with the creation of story distribution plans, which are guiding efforts to share the stories in local communities, as a way of emphasizing the importance of personal narratives as tools for youth mobilization and policy advocacy and enforcement on behalf of adolescent sexual health and rights.
