Marvin Otoniel Chub

Marvin is originally from Flores, Petén. He was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when he was 23 years old. Marvin is a young activist, coordinator, and promoter of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). He has facilitated discussion of topics such as SRH, advocacy, leadership and Integral Education in Sexuality. He is currently a volunteer at Asociación Tan Ux’il, and is part of a modern dance group in his municipality. Since 2016, he has served as a  coordinator of community promoters in the municipality of San Francisco, Petén, where he promotes Sexual and Reproductive rights among adolescents and young people.

Edvin Yovany López Castillo

Edvin is originally from Flores, Petén. He was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when he was 25 years old. Edvin is a young activist, coordinator, and promoter of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). He has facilitated discussion of topics such as SRH, advocacy, leadership and Integral Education in Sexuality. He is currently a radio communicator for Asociación Tan Ux’il in the Zero Code program, and is part of a modern dance group in his municipality. Since 2016, he has been coordinator of community promoters in the municipality of San Francisco, Petén, where he promotes SRH rights among adolescents and young people.

Yoni Obet Guzmán Agosto

Yoni is originally from Flores, Petén. He was selected as a GOJoven Scholar when he was 25 years old. Yoni is a young man who likes to work on behalf of Sexual and Reproductive Health rights. He started this kind of work when he was 17 and previously served as youth coordinator and facilitator for Integral Education in Sexuality. He is currently a part of the speech team of the radio program Code Zero. He has also trained in different spaces and with different institutions such as Tan Ux`il, ASECSA, AJODER, and Puntos de Encuentro Nicaragua.

Hescarleth Esstephannie Membreño González

Hescarleth is originally from Flores, Petén. She was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when she was 26 years old. Hescarleth is a young feminist and leader who is fun and dynamic. Additionally, she is a social worker with knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health, and experience serving as a facilitator, trainer, speaker and project coordinator. When she was 15, she started participating in youth groups  on issues of Integral Education in Sexuality, and is currently responsible for a network of community health promoters, the Tan Ux’il Association.

Karen Patricia Barajas Vásquez

Karen is originally from Flores, Petén. She was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when she was 23 years old. Karen is a young, dynamic and creative woman. Additionally, she is a Bachelor of Psychology student, with knowledge and experience in working with SRH and DSR subjects, and serving as a facilitator, trainer, educator and incident assistant. She started getting involved with the issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health at age 13 as a youth facilitator, promoter, coordinator, and currently supports the network of promoters and advocacy in the community.

Rudy Daniel Cucul Xol

Rudy, of the Q’eqchi culture, is originally from the Lámpara village in the town of Livingston, located in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. He was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when he was 18 years old. Rudy is an incredibly charismatic young man who is efficient, creative, dynamic, and likes to help others. Rudy has participated in a training workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Valeska Judith Reyes Leiva

Valeska is originally from the Municipality of Puerto Barrios, in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. She was selected as a GOJoven Guatemala Fellow when she was 24 years old. Valeska is a young Garifuna woman who is committed to the Garífuna people, proactive, entrepreneurial, transformative and innovative, with a focus on respect for human rights. Valeska currently provides a volunteer service to an organization that works on the prevention of pregnancy in girls by facilitating spaces for dialogue. The organization works with girls from educational centers at the national level and focuses on issues of sexual and reproductive health rights. Valeska also works to promote the Garífuna culture through the nationalization of the Decade of Afro-descendants in Guatemala.

Doren Dayana Reyes Castillo

Doren is originally from the Municipality of Livingston, in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. She was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when she was 20 years old. Doren is a Garifuna woman leader and is recognized for promoting the Garífuna culture nationwide. She is also young and incredibly charismatic, dedicated, dynamic, with her own initiative and likes to work as a team. Doren has participated in a workshop on Reproductive Sexual Health, specifically on the subject of HIV / AIDS.

Gloria Esmeralda Chó Cal

Gloria, an expert in Business Administration, is originally from Santa Cruz, Verapaz, Alta Verapaz. She was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when she was 21 years old. Gloria is a young leader who has been recognized for her leadership and work with women surviving sexual violence. She is also participative, enthusiastic, and has initiative. Gloria works with young female students, facilitating discussions on the topic of Sexual and Reproductive Health, so that they have access to information on the Integral Education in Sexuality and that there is a reduction in sexual violence and unplanned or unwanted pregnancy.

Cristian Alejandro Morán

Cristian is originally from San Cristóbal Alta Verapaz and was selected as a GOJoven Scholar when he was 17 years old. Cristian is a fourth semester student in Industrial Engineering and has helped to implement a workshop for young people and adolescents. He participated with different organizations based on sexual health, sexual health reproductive rights, and political advocacy in different spaces. He is also engaged with working groups in FUNDESA (Foundation for the Development of Guatemala). Currently, Cristian serves as the Communications Coordinator for GOJoven Guatemala. He is a young man who respects the opinions of others and defends many human rights, and especially those of adolescents.
