Emelin is originally from Yepocapa, Chimaltenango and was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when she was 17 years old. Emelin is currently studying and working. Her first training experience in SHRR was with GOJoven, where she learned what menstruation was. From that point she learned about herself as a young woman and what her responsibilities were as one. Emelin hopes to complete her academic training and become a journalist to report on the violence that women and girls face. She is well aware of the rate of unwanted pregnancies among the girls in her community and how that is a result of the inadequate sexual education the schools deliver. She is grateful that GOJoven taught her to identify areas of violence and how she can advocate to eradicate it.
