Julio is originally from Palín Escuintal and was selected as a GOJoven Fellow when he was 17. When he was 14, he entered a career in diversification and at 16 started in his first year of university in the Faculty of Medicine. Upon entering the university, he became interested in volunteering regionally in the municipality of Escuintla. Little by little, he became exposed to people in the field who ran NGOs and from there became part of the VOLUSAC “Manos Solidarias” student volunteer program. He realized the importance of comprehensive sexuality education in his department, something that was unfamiliar to people his age and was very interesting to him. For this reason, he participated in many activities supporting the rights of girls and boys in villages where education is scarce. One of his main life goals has been to graduate with a degree in legal and social sciences. He is currently in his third year of this career, and hopes that his knowledge can be of help to society and that he can apply it when necessary.
